Sometimes I enjoyed watching people from a distance (not in a creepy way). Watching the way they move and the way they interact. Sometimes a fleeting glimpse gives you such an understanding of a situation and a first impression of a person’s inner workings
Discovering people’s inner essence, what motivates them, what makes them tick. It surprises me sometimes how you can build an impression of someone so quickly and find that in a brief moment, a captured glimpse of something can change your opinion just like that.
Is it that they build walls, show you want they want you to see? Or is it that you build your impression of them from what you hope they are or how they're going to fit into your life? I’m sure it’s really more complex than that, isn’t it?
I was sitting here at work and started to wonder; do people watch me and wonder what makes me tick? What first impression do I give out?
Each day we change and whilst often people form an opinion of whom a person is and what they stand for, they don’t often look to re-evaluate their opinion on a regular basis. Is this because they believe we actually never do change?
What about the people who form an opinion of someone just because of what they've heard or what someone else has told them. Can you really dislike someone that you know nothing about?
Next time you say you don’t like a person, ask yourself how long it’s been since you checked in with them, have they changed? Are they still the kind of person you came to dislike? Is it really worth the energy it takes to dislike them?
Or has it come time for us to build relationships like a drive through at a fast food restaurant where you settle for whats dished up in front of you because its too difficult to turn the car around and drive back through?
People are always changing, and what can be important one week mightn't be the next ... I love looking forward to the changes, to the good and the bad, it's all about growing with each other.
ReplyDeleteI say don't settle. Ever.
There are some really good messages here. I remember there was this guy at work and I had seen him around for years and did not like him because that is thye impression I started with. he later came and worked with us and we are now very good friends. We had just never talked before. i hate it whn I judge people straight up and try very hard not to.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting guys :)
ReplyDeleteits a different kind of hobby we both have. Looking at people and enjoying their qwerky antiques.
ReplyDeleteWe learn much more about ourselves by just observing other in their natural habitat.
Well, if all else fails, we at least get to watch some very fine creations of GOD.
